Services

Employment

There is now an increasing awareness amongst employees of their employment rights.  They are therefore prepared to litigate in pursuit of those rights so it is essential that employers are able to protect their interests.

We can offer practical advice and guidance on employment contracts, staff hand books, grievance and dismissal procedures.

Employment law is constantly changing so contact us on 01823 430 851 to ensure that you are fully compliant.  We can offer an on-site employment policies and procedures healthcheck.

Residential Sales & Purchases

D B Law offers a professional and efficient service on all aspects of sales, purchases, re-mortgages and transfers of equity.

As a practice we are proactive in making preparations for E-Conveyancing. We use internet based search facilities with one of the Government prescribed NLIS providers and we have internet access to the Land Registry and HM Revenue Customs & Excise online services.

We offer a competative fixed fee structure and can provide you with a free no obligation written quotation which will give you an understanding of the costs involved, therefore allowing you to budget.

For a free initial 1/2 hour consultation please contact Deepa on 01823 430 851 or email deepa@dblawuk.com

Relocation Conveyancing

We also deal with employees’ house moves and are used to working to tight deadlines.  What’s more we understand the need for a service which is personal and responsive rather than a factory style approach to conveyancing.

We believe that what sets us apart is our sensitive approach at what can be a stressful time for employees and our commitment to deliver consistently high levels of service to all of our clients.

Commercial Property Conveyancing

The buying and selling of commercial property is quite different from the process involved in dealing with domestic property, both in technical details and the procedure for carrying out the transaction.

If you are taking a commercial property lease we can help you check the terms of the lease and negotiate favourable terms.

Wills & Trusts

It is reported that two thirds of the UK population do not have a current Will.  There are numerous positive aspects to making a will. The most important of course being retaining control over who inherits your estate on your death.

In plain English, we can provide you with legal advice about how a properly drawn up Will and Trust can play an important part in managing your finances and planning for the future for those that are important to you.

Inheritance Tax Planning

Inheritance tax is a tax on death. The law allows you to leave an estate up to the value of £300,000, without having to pay any Inheritance Tax (IHT) on it. This is known as the nil rate band. The remainder of your estate is then taxed at 40%.

We provide wealth preservation advice tailored to your particular circumstances, to help you minimise tax liabilities and maximise tax relief.

Administration of Estates

When there is a death in the family the deceased’s estate has to be dealt with by collecting in the assets, paying any debts and distributing the remainder to those that are entitled. In order to get authority to do this you need to obtain a grant of representation.

We can assist you with winding up the estate or if you only require assistance with obtaining the Grant we can help you with this for a fixed fee.

Court of Protection Matters

Have you ever though about who will deal with your financial matters if you become ill.  We can help in preparing an Enduring Power of Attorney on your behalf, which may appoint a family member or friend as an attorney.  We can also deal with receivership matters.
